GPS and tracking
How Lildog finds your dog or cat's location — outdoors and at home.
How does Lildog find the location? +
The location is updated continuously using a combination of GPS, Bluetooth and mobile networks (NB-IoT and LTE-M). Outdoors, mobile technology provides unlimited range. Indoors, or in areas with poor coverage, Lildog works best via Bluetooth.
What is Live mode, and when should I use it? +
Live mode provides more frequent location updates on the map — useful during a run or if your pet has escaped and needs to be found quickly.
The device still tracks normally at all times, so Live mode is not required for the tracker to work. Note that Live mode uses more battery.
Can I see where my dog or cat has been previously? +
Yes. In the app, you can view location history to see where your pet has been during the day — for example when someone else has walked or looked after your dog or cat.
Battery life
Expected battery life is 3–5 days, but this varies depending on use, activity level and coverage.
Why does the battery run out quickly? +
Expected battery life is 3–5 days, but it varies depending on use, activity level and coverage. If you experience short battery life, check the following:
- Live tracking: Is “Live” enabled? Live tracking updates the location more frequently and therefore uses more battery.
- Power saving mode: Power saving mode can be used to extend battery life.
- GPS frequency: The standard GPS frequency is 70 seconds. A longer interval can improve battery life.
- Your pet's activity level: A more active pet affects battery usage.
- Mobile coverage: Poor mobile coverage can also reduce battery life.
When is the device fully charged? +
Lildog is fully charged when the light on the device stays solid green. See the LED guide at the top of the page for the full overview.
How do I turn on power saving mode? +
You can enable power saving mode in the Lildog app to reduce the device's power consumption and extend battery life.
- Go to Settings in the app and tap the tracker shown next to your pet.
- At the top of the page, you will find Power saving mode. Enable it.
- Then scroll down and tap Save.
When power saving mode is enabled, the Lildog device uses less power.
Sound
In addition to the light, Lildog has a built-in sound signal.
Does Lildog have a sound signal? +
Yes. Lildog has a built-in sound signal in addition to the light, which can help you find your dog or cat more quickly if they are hiding or difficult to see.
Water and mud
Lildog is designed to handle Nordic weather and active outdoor play.
Can Lildog handle water and mud? +
Lildog is built for active dogs and cats and tested in Nordic conditions. Your pet can swim, play in mud or play with other animals while wearing the device.
The device is IP67 rated.
Lost or damaged device
What to do if the GPS tracker or attachment is lost or damaged.
What should I do if the GPS tracker or attachment is lost or damaged? +
If you have a Premium subscription, you can receive one replacement tracker per year in the event of loss or damage at no extra cost. Contact customer service and provide the order number from the previous purchase and the address where the new tracker should be sent.
If you do not have Premium, Lildog can offer a new tracker at a reduced price. Contact customer service for information about ordering and pricing.
The arrangement applies to both a lost GPS tracker and a damaged attachment. If the customer has several devices, the replacement arrangement applies per tracker.

What to check if the map is incorrect or not updating.
What should I do if the device is not updating its location? +
First, check that the device has power and is connected to your phone's Bluetooth.
Then try restarting the tracker by double tapping the button and holding it for about 30 seconds. Reopen the app afterwards and check whether the location updates.
Poor mobile coverage can result in less frequent location updates. The GPS frequency selected for the device also affects how often a new location is shown.
What should I do if the GPS location is incorrect? +
If your pet's location appears incorrect, it may be due to poor coverage or a temporary delay in the GPS update.
Make sure the tracker has mobile coverage. GPS works best outdoors, while buildings and other obstacles can affect accuracy.
If the problem continues, restart the device by double tapping the button and holding it for about 30 seconds until the light turns off. Then reopen the Lildog app and refresh the map.
Temporary inaccuracies may occur more often in densely built-up areas or areas with poor mobile coverage.
How do I update the GPS tracker? +
If the GPS tracker needs a software/firmware update, you will receive a notification in the Lildog app.
Tap the update notification and follow the instructions in the app.
Make sure the tracker has enough battery before you start. It should be close to your phone and connected via Bluetooth during the update. Do not close the app or turn off your phone while the update is in progress.
I'm having trouble adding the device +
If you're having trouble adding the device in the app, first check that there is not already a saved connection to Lildog in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Then restart the device:
- Double tap the button so the LED light turns blue.
- Hold the button until the light turns off, about 30 seconds.
- The device flashes green twice to confirm the restart.
- If the blue light is still active, double tap the button to turn it off.
Then turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone and reopen the Lildog app.
Put the device into pairing mode by holding the button for about 3 seconds until it flashes blue, then try adding it in the app again.
If the problem continues, or you receive an error message, contact customer service.
